How is it November already? Somethings that have been going on/catching my eye

• I love Caitlin Wilson Textiles new collection (pictured above), and just need to decide which of the pillows to buy for the sofa in my new office.
• This OBB post on having an “unplugged” wedding isn’t new, but it’s worth drawing attention to again. I personally strongly encourage people to think about taking this route.
• Speaking of weddings, I have a whole bunch that need to be blogged once photos come in (and I get a chance to slow down and catch up!)
• Also on the topics of weddings, I helped put together a “reverse sanity pledge” over at A Practical Wedding, that’s designed to help couples who are getting married be the best clients they can be. I’m super lucky, because my clients rock, but both I and other wedding vendors I know have had some bad experiences with clients in the past. Read it and keep yourself from being one!
• I love this print (and the nailpolish color in it!)
• Speaking of nailpolish, Deborah Lippmann’s Boom Boom Pow was the only thing I bought for myself on my last trip to New York in August, and I have worn it almost every day since. It looks great over every single color of nailpolish out there. The shine makes it hard to photograph, but at some point I’ll have to write a whole post on it.
• And speaking of New York, I’m heading there again next week for a quick birthday trip!

The colored cords are a brilliant contrast to the vintage lamps – and I love cords that are meant to be displayed instead of hidden away (so much easier!) Ursula will also work with you to revamp the cord on an existing light you already own, which is an option with some awesome potential.

I’ve long been a fan of waxed canvas, and have a Moop bag from 2007 that I still like, so I’m currently eying their Carrier bag in brown waxed canvas. It seems like it would go with most things, and would fit my laptop, which is key for the bag I carry every day. Not cheap by any means, but perhaps a classic that I would be happy with for a long time (and their construction is excellent, so it would definitely last a long time.)

I just switched over to summer shades, and am especially loving the two I have on right now: Essie’s Punchy Pink on my toes (it is so neon that literally almost glows in the dark, and as such is hard to photograph) and Chanel’s Mimosa on my fingers, which really is kind of the perfect shade of yellow. It also happened to match the best macaron I’ve ever had in my life (and yes, I have been to Paris) from the Indie Cakes & Pastries booth at Art Murmur this weekend. The cookie pictured is passionfruit, although I also tried their strawberry lemonade & pistachio. All of them were to die for, and I’m currently trying to figure out how to afford having a steady stream delivered to my front door.

For me, having a small wallet is key to not hauling around 5 years of old receipts – it’s size forces me to clean it out regularly, as it simply can’t hold too much more than I normally keep in it. It’s easy to grab and clip to my keys if I’m just running to the store and don’t want to bring my whole purse, and the bright yellow color means I can actually find it at the bottom of my often-giant bags. The Darla also has great interior pockets, which make it easy to organize the things I carry with me daily, and an ID pocket on the back side, so it’s been a while since I’ve had to search for my license at a bar. The version I have is sold out (I bought it on clearance right before xmas) but I’m loving this bright green Victoria Falls version.

A little pricey, perhaps, but the fact that it’s real leather, not to mention quality construction, means that it will last for years. And I’m a believer in the idea that paying for quality once is almost always cheaper in the end than buying a cheap item multiple times.

I miss running into Natalie at Bay Area craft shows and openings (she is a super lovely person,) but am so glad that she’s up to such great things in Austin.
