it’s finally starting to feel like spring is here, and I am so ready for it that I can’t even stand it (although I actually only like spring because it means that summer is almost here. I live for summer, and literally start waiting for it to come back in October every year.) Spring also means that wedding season is getting into swing, so I have been swamped with work lately. That said, I’m so excited for all of this year’s weddings – they are going to be some great ones. Some other random things:

• oh hey, I bet you wondered what my take on pre-nups was, didn’t you? (no, I don’t actually think anyone has wondered this.) well, I guest posted over on A Practical Wedding about it!
• I’ve been on Pinterest for a while (you can find me here) but it’s getting a lot more fun as more people join. Email me if you want an invite!
• my mom also wrote a post for APW, on money and my parents’ almost-40 year marriage. Check it out here!
• I love these Rules Of Dinner from Dinner: A Love Story (which is a great blog, even if you don’t have kids or cook.) Personally I think they’re good rules even if you’re eating with a group of adults.
• next week I’ll be in both Vegas (for a cousin’s wedding!) and New York (my sister is directing a play! free tickets here) and even though the travel schedule, especially on top of my work schedule, is making my head hurt a little right now, it’s going to be good to get out of my work-round-the-clock mode and see family and friends.

I’m definitely having a non-white wedding dress moment these days, and sea foam green seems like a sort of particularly lovely option, no? Also “The skirt is draped so perfectly that this gown literally dances with each step you take” kinda sounds like a lot of fun.

And yes, this breaks most of the regular rules of dresses I like (both over $1000 and strapless!) but maybe let’s just agree that there are no rules when it comes to gowns that dance as you walk.

The colored cords are a brilliant contrast to the vintage lamps – and I love cords that are meant to be displayed instead of hidden away (so much easier!) Ursula will also work with you to revamp the cord on an existing light you already own, which is an option with some awesome potential.

It started raining right on time this year, and I’m left feeling a little like I don’t know where exactly summer went. This wedding season has been an amazing but intense one for me (it’s was my first one doing events full time… this weekend will be my 12th wedding in the past 10 consecutive weekends) and I’ve fallen behind in other areas, like keeping up this blog. Some things I’ve seen around the internet that I loved over the past while:

• This piece on “What the Happiest and Most Successful Women Do Differently” has been making its way around the internet for a while, but it’s brilliant. If you haven’t read it yet, do it now. “The women who could answer positively to the questions above had, on some level, simply decided that they were going to be happy. They made that choice.” Yes, yes, yes.
• Name Changing, APW community style. It’s a great and important conversation.
• Roxy & Dave’s (of the food-truck catered park wedding) photos are up on Erika Jackson’s blog – and they’re gorgeous.
• We Are the 99 Percent. Powerful.
• making glitter! in photoshop
• Lots of great advice in desktop wallpaper form.
• I want this star projector. Also – potential wedding fun, no?
• glow stick lanterns! definitely potential wedding (and, well, general) fun.

I’m looking forward to having a little more time to read, work on personal projects, and see my friends as we go into the off season (although, the truth is that it won’t really be very “off” as I’m already working on a ton of weddings for 2012!) And, as always, I’m going to be working on trying to find something to enjoy about colder, wetter, weather, which is always a big effort for me (because if I was the queen of the universe, every day would be 75°F and sunny.)

Gold + glitter + peep toe = love. They’re pretty much party-shoe perfection. The BCBGeneration Ariel Pump in gold glitter – I found they ran big, and ended up with a 1/2 size smaller than normal.

(*it should be noted that I wear heels incredibly regularly, as in, for most of the day several days a week. If you’re not a heel-wearer, please don’t try breaking in a new pair at a party. you will be miserable.)

Which brings up the issue: Do I think that bunting is ‘overplayed’? Without a doubt. That said, do I still think it’s a really fun way to decorate a party or house? For sure. I really wish that everyone would get over wanting to make their weddings/houses/lives totally and completely unique, incorporating things never seen on the pages of Martha Stewart Living before. Your life is not a photo shoot. And if you really like bunting, then hell yes, use bunting at your wedding/in your diningroom/wherever else you want to use it. More on this subject to come…

I just switched over to summer shades, and am especially loving the two I have on right now: Essie’s Punchy Pink on my toes (it is so neon that literally almost glows in the dark, and as such is hard to photograph) and Chanel’s Mimosa on my fingers, which really is kind of the perfect shade of yellow. It also happened to match the best macaron I’ve ever had in my life (and yes, I have been to Paris) from the Indie Cakes & Pastries booth at Art Murmur this weekend. The cookie pictured is passionfruit, although I also tried their strawberry lemonade & pistachio. All of them were to die for, and I’m currently trying to figure out how to afford having a steady stream delivered to my front door.
