I have bathroom tile on the mind these days, and the image I always come back to is this one:

White, black and grey. Classic & timeless, will never feel dated, which in my opinion is what one should aim for with difficult-to-change things like tile.

new office

I moved my office into it’s own space about a month ago, and things are slowly coming together. I hope to have final before and after photos in a few weeks, but for now here’s a peek:

Best thing about having a dedicated office? I don’t cuddle with my laptop & client files anymore. Because while I love my job, I think we can all agree that sleeping with a stack of files on the other half of the bed is probably not the healthiest thing in the world.

pretty cords

I’m setting up a new office (photos probably won’t be ready for a few months, as I just ordered a sofa that’s going to take 10 weeks to arrive) and so have been spending my precious late-night non-working hours browsing the internet for accessories. Though they’re out of my price range, I’m really loving these refurbed vintage lamps from etsy shop EarthSeaWarrior (however, I kind of wish she would rethink her shop name.)

The colored cords are a brilliant contrast to the vintage lamps – and I love cords that are meant to be displayed instead of hidden away (so much easier!) Ursula will also work with you to revamp the cord on an existing light you already own, which is an option with some awesome potential.

Rob Ryan bunting

I’m a big fan of British paper-cutting artist Rob Ryan. I’ve known about, (and bought things from) his etsy store for a long time, but just found out about his collection at Heal’s, which includes this pretty amazing looking bunting. It just might possibly be worth the pound conversion + shipping from the UK:

I wish there was a better picture, but almost 20 feet of Rob Ryan designed pennents? Yes please. Also, have you seen photos of his store, Ryantown? On my list of places to visit before I die.

three legged club chair

I picked up this chair from the upholsterer’s for a client today and I am so pleased with how it turned out. It is really just perfect in their space.*

We used Mod Green Pod’s Atticus fabric in Cherry – it’s a beautiful fabric that I’m sure I’ll be using again in the future. A great blend of modern yet traditional.

As you can see below, the chair was in fairly dire shape before (excuse the terrible iPhone photo)

But with new fabric, new cushions, and refinishing of all of the wood? Adorable. Getting things reupholstered is not necessarily (or usually) that much cheaper than buying new, but I find it so much more satisfying. You’re a) saving an existing piece of furniture from the landfill and b) getting something totally custom that no one else will have.

*we’re getting pretty close to done with their house, and I cannot wait to share it. They are *great,* and it has been one of the most fun projects I’ve ever worked on. Look for more photos in the next few months.

bedroom peek

I am *almost* done decorating my new bedroom, and am so happy with how it’s turning out. I’m hoping to be able to share the end result in the next few weeks, but here’s a peek

(excuse the odd lighting and color balance in this photo) That’s the closet door you see, which is doorless, so I’m having a curtain made from the vintage sheet you see hanging there. Amazing sheets, right? They used to belong to someone in my family – I believe my grandparents. If it was a set I would totally try to use them, but all that’s left are two top sheets, so closet curtain it is.

Caffe Streets

Charlie took me to Caffe Streets today because he knew that I would love the design of the interior. He was right – it is probably the prettiest coffee shop I’ve ever been in. The lighting is particularly fantastic. (the coffee was also stellar. and I love their cups.)
