Roxy & Dave’s Tilden Park Wedding

I’m finally finishing blogging all of the weddings I worked in 2011! Look for them over the next few weeks here. Roxy & Dave’s wedding was one of most pure-fun events that I got to coordinate last year. A food truck catered picnic in a regional park, complete with popsicles and killer sunglasses. Roxy and [...]

Karen & Stephen

I was going through some old photos of my parents last week, and came across this candid (taken by a family member – they only had a professional photographer at the church) from their 1972 wedding that I’d never seen before. Weren’t they adorable? My mom was 18 and my dad was 20 – they’ll [...]

Melody & Mark’s Brazilian Room Wedding

SO, finally time to catch up on weddings from this past fall! I’m going to try to blog all of the weddings from last year that I have professional photos from (and haven’t blogged already) over the next few weeks… going through them all again has been a great reminder of how much of a [...]

patterned bridesmaid dresses = giant yes

If you’re a friend or a client of mine, you probably know that I’m kind of super into patterned bridesmaid dresses right now. forget-me-nots and a skull

One of my clients has one of the best less-than-traditional engagement rings I’ve ever seen. I mean, take a look at this: Gorgeous, no? The eyes are rubies (that actually do match perfectly, the difference in color is just from the lighting in the photos the bride and I took quickly this weekend) and there [...]

poured votives

just a little PSA to say that this is one of the the best prices I’ve seen for poured-in-glass candles around (poured-in is easier than separate candle & glass by nature of less moving parts. they also tend to burn longer. whoever is setting up and lighting your candles will thank you for using them.) highlights

a few things I really liked from the last week or so: these snakeskin print velvet flats from daniblack. which are as comfortable as they are rad. buying tickets for my next trip – Chicago in February! (because apparently I’m a masochist – it’s very possible that I hate cold weather more than anyone in [...]

A Practical Wedding: the book!

SO, my friend Meg, author and editor of the brilliant website A Practical Wedding, wrote a wedding planning book. And, you guys? It’s awesome. When I first started planning weddings five years ago (for friends, I had no idea at the time that I’d one day be doing this professionally) I read pretty much every [...]

it’s time

If there is one thing I’ve learned by working in the wedding industry, and by attending the vast number of weddings that I attend, it’s that there is nothing political about love. And there is nothing political when two people decide that they want to stand in front of their community and declare their love [...]
